I was planning on waiting until tomorrow, but I’m way too excited.
I hopped on an overnight bus for the 12-hour trip from Tokyo to Hiroshima, and boy is it swanky!
I’d prepared myself for a long, slightly smelly, slightly uncomfortable, very loud trip, complete with crying children.
Imagine my surprise when the bus attendant chased me down the hallway (aisle just doesn’t cut it!) because I hadn’t taken off my shoes when I got on.

Don’t worry, they gave me some slick bus slippers.

It’s absolutely insane. I have an entire pod to myself, complete with four axes of motion on my chair, a face mask in case I was worried about my beauty sleep, and an electronic air purifier. This must be the first class of the bus world!

It’s not quite as cool or as fast as taking the bullet train, but I have zero regrets. Three cheers for the unexpected!
